Australian Builders Plate Changes

Are you looking to increase the maximum outboard size on your vessel. Recent changes to the Australian standards set out new methods to increase the maximum power rating of your exisiting vessel.


Most recreational vessels are required to be fitted with an 'Australian Builders Plate' (ABP). These plates provide information on operational restrictions, assessed against a documented standard. The most commonly for Australian built vessels is AS1799.1. This standard was recently amended and implemented in 2021. It now sets out clear methods to safely assess and certify an increase in power from factory.
